Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Dispense prescribed medications accurately in accordance with approved pharmaceutical procedures and legal requirements.
  • Verify prescriptions for completeness, accuracy, and patient safety before dispensing.
  • Prepare, label, package, and issue medicines according to established pharmacy standards.
  • Maintain accurate dispensing records using electronic Health Management Information Systems.
  • Assist pharmacists in ensuring rational medicine use and pharmaceutical care.
  • Monitor stock availability and maintain optimal inventory levels.
  • Receive pharmaceutical supplies and verify quantities against delivery documentation.
  • Conduct routine stock counts and reconcile inventory discrepancies promptly.
  • Monitor medicine expiry dates and implement first-expiry-first-out inventory practices.
  • Report damaged, expired, or recalled medicines according to organizational procedures.
  • Ensure proper storage conditions for all pharmaceutical products.
  • Maintain cold chain requirements for temperature-sensitive medications.
  • Participate in procurement planning by identifying medicine replenishment needs.
  • Educate patients on medication usage, dosage schedules, storage requirements, and possible side effects.
  • Provide clear instructions to promote medication adherence.
  • Respond professionally to patient inquiries regarding prescribed medicines.
  • Collaborate with physicians and nurses to resolve medication-related issues.
  • Support implementation of medication safety initiatives throughout the healthcare facility.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Applicants should possess either a Degree in Pharmacy or a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution. Candidates must have successfully completed the required internship and possess a minimum of three years of post
  • internship professional experience, preferably gained within a hospital or busy healthcare environment. Registration with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board and possession of a valid practicing license are mandatory requirements for this position. The successful candidate should demonstrate proficiency in computer applications, particularly Health Management Information Systems and pharmacy management software.
