Key Responsibilities
- Welcome every guest courteously upon arrival while maintaining a warm, professional, and friendly attitude throughout their dining experience.
- Present menus confidently, explain available dishes, beverages, daily specials, promotions, and answer customer questions accurately.
- Guide guests when selecting meals by recommending suitable menu combinations based on customer preferences and dietary requirements where applicable.
- Record food and beverage orders carefully to ensure complete accuracy before submitting requests to the kitchen.
- Monitor order preparation progress and maintain effective communication with kitchen personnel to facilitate timely meal delivery.
- Serve food and beverages promptly while ensuring attractive presentation and correct serving procedures are consistently followed.
- Check customer satisfaction during meals and respond promptly to additional requests or service adjustments.
- Prepare dining tables before guest arrival by arranging cutlery, glassware, napkins, condiments, and other required dining accessories.
- Clear tables efficiently after customers finish dining and prepare them immediately for the next guests.
- Maintain exceptional cleanliness throughout restaurant seating areas, service stations, counters, and guest facilities.
- Observe all food safety regulations, hygiene procedures, sanitation standards, and company health policies during every shift.
- Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system accurately when entering customer orders, processing payments, printing receipts, and balancing transactions.
- Prepare customer bills correctly and explain charges professionally whenever clarification is requested.
- Handle cash, card, and electronic payment transactions responsibly while maintaining financial accuracy.
- Support inventory control by reporting low stock levels of beverages, service materials, and restaurant supplies.
- Assist with beverage preparation and basic service support whenever operational demands require additional assistance.
- Ensure restaurant equipment, serving utensils, and dining furniture remain clean, organized, and ready for continuous service.
- Coordinate effectively with fellow service attendants to maintain smooth restaurant operations during peak business hours.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally by listening carefully, offering practical solutions, and escalating complex matters to the Restaurant Supervisor when necessary.
- Demonstrate excellent product knowledge to confidently explain ingredients, preparation methods, and available beverage options.
- Encourage responsible upselling by recommending complementary food items, beverages, desserts, and seasonal promotions without placing pressure on guests.
- Maintain professional appearance, excellent personal hygiene, and appropriate grooming standards throughout every working shift.
- Observe workplace health and safety procedures to minimize operational risks for guests, colleagues, and the organization.
- Attend departmental meetings, training sessions, and service improvement programs organized by management.
- Contribute positively to teamwork by supporting colleagues and promoting a cooperative working environment.
- Protect customer confidentiality and demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism during every interaction.
- Report maintenance issues, damaged equipment, or potential safety hazards immediately to the appropriate supervisor.
- Adapt efficiently to changing operational requirements, customer volumes, and restaurant service schedules.
- Maintain punctuality, reliability, and excellent attendance in accordance with organizational expectations.
- Complete any additional hospitality-related duties assigned by the Restaurant Supervisor in support of excellent customer service and efficient restaurant operations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Applicants should possess a Certificate or Diploma in Food and Beverage Service, Hospitality Management, or another closely related discipline obtained from a recognized institution. Candidates must hold a valid Food Handler's (Health) Certificate issued by the relevant County Government and demonstrate a minimum of two years of practical experience in food and beverage service within a reputable hotel, restaurant, lodge, resort, or hospitality establishment. Experience using a Point of Sale (POS) system is essential. Strong verbal communication skills, customer service excellence, interpersonal effectiveness, and the ability to build positive relationships with guests are highly desirable. The successful candidate should demonstrate outstanding attention to detail, organizational ability, professionalism, integrity, reliability, and a positive attitude towards teamwork. The ability to remain composed during busy service periods, prioritize multiple tasks efficiently, and consistently deliver accurate service is essential.
