Absa Bank Kenya PLC is seeking an accomplished, energetic, and performance-driven professional to join its Retail Banking division as an Area Sales Manager – Nkrumah Road Branch on a two-year renewable contract. The Area Sales Manager will play an important role in translating strategic business objectives into measurable sales outcomes by building motivated, knowledgeable, and highly productive field teams capable of acquiring new customers and strengthening existing relationships.
Working closely with Regional Sales Managers and branch leadership, the position requires a proactive individual who can identify business opportunities within corporate organizations, community groups, institutions, and commercial enterprises. The role focuses on expanding the Bank's customer portfolio by coordinating field activations, financial literacy initiatives, product awareness campaigns, and relationship-building activities that generate sustainable business growth.
Beyond sales leadership, the Area Sales Manager will ensure strict compliance with internal policies, banking regulations, operational standards, customer due diligence requirements, and risk management procedures. Every customer application, account opening process, product recommendation, and sales activity must be executed with professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail while maintaining the highest standards of service quality.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, mentor, and motivate a team of Lead Generators to consistently achieve assigned business development and customer acquisition targets.
- Develop structured sales plans that align with branch objectives, regional priorities, and overall business growth strategies.
- Allocate sales territories, daily assignments, and customer engagement activities to maximize productivity across the sales team.
- Monitor daily field activities to ensure planned customer visits, business meetings, and sales campaigns are successfully executed.
- Track individual and team performance using measurable sales indicators and provide timely coaching to improve productivity.
- Conduct regular performance discussions, identify strengths and improvement areas, and implement practical development plans.
- Establish achievable sales objectives covering deposits, lending products, transaction accounts, digital banking solutions, and other financial products.
- Coordinate customer acquisition campaigns targeting businesses, institutions, organizations, and emerging market opportunities.
- Build productive relationships with corporate clients to support employee banking partnerships and new account acquisition initiatives.
- Support branch marketing activities by organizing financial awareness events, customer education forums, and promotional campaigns.
- Ensure sales representatives possess updated product knowledge and fully understand current banking solutions before engaging customers.
- Collaborate with Regional Sales Managers to identify new market opportunities and develop expansion strategies.
- Prepare accurate sales forecasts, business reports, pipeline updates, and performance summaries for management review.
- Monitor attendance, leave schedules, field deployment, and workforce planning while ensuring compliance with human resource policies.
- Participate in recruitment interviews, onboarding processes, induction programs, and mentoring of newly hired sales personnel.
- Identify training requirements and recommend learning interventions that strengthen technical, product, and customer engagement skills.
- Encourage teamwork, professionalism, ethical conduct, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the sales unit.
- Ensure customer documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted within established banking procedures.
- Verify compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), data protection, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain high operational standards by ensuring every sales process meets internal audit expectations and quality benchmarks.
- Address customer concerns professionally while promoting outstanding customer satisfaction and long-term loyalty.
- Analyse market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to recommend practical business improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with branch management to improve sales conversion rates and enhance customer retention strategies.
- Maintain proper records of sales activities, coaching sessions, performance evaluations, and operational reports.
- Support implementation of new banking products, digital solutions, and customer engagement initiatives.
- Promote ethical selling practices while safeguarding the Bank's reputation and customer trust.
- Ensure branch sales activities comply with internal controls, enterprise risk management frameworks, and regulatory obligations.
- Share best practices with fellow managers and contribute to collaborative business improvement initiatives.
- Deputize for senior sales leadership whenever assigned and provide operational support during peak business periods.
- Pursue continuous professional development while remaining informed about changes in banking products, regulations, customer expectations, and industry best practices.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Applicants should possess a Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC) in Business, Commerce, Management Studies, Marketing, Finance, Economics, or another closely related discipline. A bachelor's degree will be considered an added advantage.
