Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of enterprise-wide fraud prevention strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Design comprehensive fraud risk management frameworks covering retail, corporate, digital, agency, and mobile banking services.
- Conduct regular fraud risk assessments across banking products, operational processes, and service delivery channels.
- Identify emerging fraud threats, vulnerabilities, and control weaknesses before they result in financial losses.
- Develop preventive controls that minimize opportunities for internal and external fraudulent activities.
- Oversee transaction monitoring programs and ensure suspicious activities are detected promptly.
- Evaluate fraud trends using analytical tools, data intelligence, and operational reporting.
- Coordinate fraud investigations while ensuring appropriate documentation and evidence preservation.
- Review fraud incidents and recommend corrective actions that eliminate recurring weaknesses.
- Escalate significant fraud cases to executive management in accordance with governance requirements.
- Collaborate with Compliance, Internal Audit, Risk Management, Information Security, Operations, and Legal teams to strengthen fraud controls.
- Support regulatory examinations and internal audits relating to fraud risk management.
- Develop fraud prevention policies, procedures, and operational guidelines that reflect industry best practices.
- Monitor compliance with internal fraud management standards across business units.
- Prepare comprehensive fraud risk reports for executive leadership and governance committees.
- Recommend technology-driven fraud detection solutions that improve monitoring efficiency.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of fraud detection systems and recommend enhancements where necessary.
- Promote a strong fraud awareness culture through continuous employee education and training initiatives.
- Develop fraud awareness campaigns that encourage ethical conduct and timely reporting of suspicious activities.
- Provide technical guidance and coaching to fraud prevention specialists and team members.
- Set departmental performance objectives and monitor achievement against agreed targets.
- Foster collaboration between operational teams to improve fraud prevention effectiveness.
- Maintain productive working relationships with regulators, law enforcement agencies, industry bodies, and external partners where appropriate.
- Support business continuity by ensuring fraud risks are incorporated into operational planning.
- Participate in strategic projects involving digital banking, payment systems, and new financial products to ensure fraud controls are embedded from implementation.
- Analyse fraud losses, root causes, and emerging patterns to improve organizational resilience.
- Recommend process automation initiatives that reduce operational fraud exposure.
- Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive investigations and customer information.
- Continuously review global fraud prevention trends and recommend practical innovations suitable for the banking environment.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency while maintaining strong fraud governance.
- Prepare periodic management information reports highlighting fraud performance indicators, risk exposures, and recommended mitigation actions.
- Ensure all fraud prevention activities support customer confidence, regulatory compliance, and sustainable business growth.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Banking, Risk Management, Commerce, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
- Professional certification such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or equivalent qualification will be an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of fraud risk management frameworks and banking regulations.
- Excellent knowledge of financial crime prevention principles.
- Experience interpreting banking policies and regulatory requirements.
