Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and continuously enhance enterprise fraud monitoring strategies aligned with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead daily operations of fraud monitoring teams to ensure effective identification of suspicious transactions and emerging fraud risks.
  • Oversee fraud detection systems and optimize monitoring rules to improve alert quality while minimizing false positives.
  • Evaluate fraud indicators across digital banking, card services, mobile banking, internet banking, agency banking, and branch operations.
  • Coordinate timely review, prioritization, and assignment of fraud alerts based on severity and potential business impact.
  • Direct complex fraud investigations in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external agencies where appropriate.
  • Produce meaningful fraud intelligence reports that support executive decision-making and operational improvements.
  • Monitor fraud trends, criminal methodologies, and industry developments to strengthen preventive controls.
  • Recommend enhancements to fraud detection technologies through advanced analytics and automation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to identify fraud risks associated with digital platforms and emerging technologies.
  • Support compliance with regulatory obligations, banking standards, and internal governance requirements.
  • Participate in enterprise risk assessments relating to financial crime and fraud exposure.
  • Review fraud incidents to identify root causes and recommend sustainable corrective actions.
  • Develop performance indicators to measure fraud detection effectiveness and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure fraud investigations are conducted objectively, professionally, and within established service timelines.
  • Maintain accurate documentation supporting investigations, monitoring activities, and escalation decisions.
  • Prepare executive reports summarizing fraud trends, operational risks, financial losses, recovery initiatives, and control effectiveness.
  • Build strong relationships with business units to encourage proactive fraud prevention practices.
  • Coordinate fraud awareness programmes that strengthen employee vigilance and reporting culture.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to fraud analysts and investigators.
  • Identify training requirements and facilitate continuous capability development within the fraud monitoring function.
  • Promote innovation by evaluating emerging fraud detection technologies and analytical tools.
  • Support internal audits by providing evidence relating to fraud monitoring controls and investigations.
  • Recommend improvements to fraud policies, operational procedures, and governance frameworks.
  • Monitor key risk indicators and recommend mitigation strategies before significant losses occur.
  • Participate in strategic projects involving digital transformation, payment security, and financial crime prevention.
  • Strengthen collaboration with law enforcement, regulatory agencies, and industry fraud forums where necessary.
  • Ensure confidential handling of sensitive customer and organizational information.
  • Promote ethical conduct, accountability, and professional excellence throughout the fraud monitoring team.
  • Perform additional responsibilities assigned by senior management in support of organizational fraud risk management objectives.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Banking, Economics, Risk Management, Information Systems, Criminology, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
  • Professional certification such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Anti
  • Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), ACCA, CPA, or equivalent will be an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of fraud risk management principles and banking operations.
  • Excellent understanding of fraud monitoring technologies and transaction surveillance systems.
