Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive theoretical instruction and practical training within the assigned technical or vocational specialization using competency-based education approaches.
  • Develop detailed schemes of work, lesson plans, lesson notes, practical demonstrations, instructional guides, and assessment schedules for effective curriculum implementation.
  • Prepare, update, and organize teaching, learning, and demonstration materials that support high-quality technical instruction.
  • Conduct continuous assessment tests, practical examinations, projects, assignments, and competency evaluations while maintaining accurate trainee performance records.
  • Monitor learner attendance, academic progress, practical competence, and overall participation throughout the training period.
  • Guide trainees in developing occupational skills, innovation, entrepreneurship, workplace ethics, and professional conduct relevant to their chosen careers.
  • Ensure proper utilization, maintenance, calibration, storage, and security of workshop tools, machinery, laboratory equipment, and instructional resources.
  • Promote occupational safety and health practices by enforcing workshop safety procedures and ensuring compliance with established safety regulations.
  • Supervise practical sessions to ensure trainees acquire hands-on experience through safe and structured learning activities.
  • Maintain accurate trainee records, class registers, examination documentation, inventory records, and departmental reports.
  • Participate in curriculum review initiatives, departmental planning meetings, quality assurance activities, and institutional development programs.
  • Organize and supervise co-curricular activities that encourage teamwork, creativity, leadership, innovation, and personal development.
  • Maintain discipline among trainees through positive guidance, professional mentorship, and adherence to institutional policies.
  • Offer career guidance and counselling services that assist trainees in making informed academic and professional decisions.
  • Collaborate with fellow instructors to improve teaching methods, develop learning resources, and share professional best practices.
  • Participate in industrial linkage initiatives, community outreach programs, exhibitions, skills competitions, and vocational awareness campaigns.
  • Support institutional accreditation processes and ensure compliance with relevant government regulations governing vocational education.
  • Integrate appropriate digital learning technologies into teaching activities to enhance learner engagement and instructional effectiveness.
  • Recommend procurement requirements for training materials, workshop equipment, and educational resources needed within the department.
  • Perform any other official responsibilities assigned by the institution's management in support of quality technical and vocational education.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Applicants must possess a Diploma or Master Craft Certificate in any of the following disciplines from a recognized institution: Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Industrial Plant Engineering, Construction Plant Engineering, Civil Engineering, Building and Construction, Plumbing, Welding and Fabrication, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Renewable Energy Technology, Agriculture, Agribusiness, Leather Technology, Footwear Technology, Animal Science, Hair Dressing and Beauty Therapy, Clothing Technology, Fashion Design and Textile Technology, Food Technology, Institutional Management, Catering and Housekeeping, or another closely related technical discipline recognized by the relevant authorities. Applicants must also possess a Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution.
