Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality lectures in Clinical Medicine using modern, learner-centered teaching approaches that promote critical thinking and professional competence.
- Prepare comprehensive lesson plans, teaching schedules, instructional guides, and academic resources aligned with approved curriculum requirements.
- Design, develop, and continuously improve course content to reflect current healthcare practices, technological advancements, and professional standards.
- Facilitate practical laboratory sessions, demonstrations, simulations, and case-based learning activities that strengthen students' clinical competencies.
- Supervise students during clinical placements in hospitals, healthcare facilities, and community health settings while ensuring safe and ethical practice.
- Guide learners in applying theoretical concepts to real-life clinical situations through structured clinical teaching.
- Assess student performance using assignments, examinations, presentations, practical assessments, and continuous evaluation methods.
- Provide timely, constructive, and objective feedback that supports academic improvement and professional growth.
- Participate in curriculum review, program development, and academic quality assurance initiatives within the department.
- Collaborate with colleagues in developing new academic programs and reviewing existing courses to maintain relevance.
- Integrate innovative teaching technologies and digital learning tools into classroom and blended learning environments.
- Conduct independent and collaborative research in Clinical Medicine and related healthcare disciplines.
- Prepare competitive research grant proposals for institutional and external funding opportunities.
- Publish scholarly articles in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
- Present research findings during local, regional, and international academic conferences.
- Support dissemination of research outcomes through seminars, workshops, publications, and community engagement activities.
- Participate in consultancy assignments that enhance institutional visibility and professional contribution.
- Mentor undergraduate students on academic performance, career planning, leadership, professionalism, and ethical practice.
- Offer guidance to junior academic staff whenever required.
- Maintain accurate academic records, attendance registers, assessment documentation, and student progress reports.
- Participate in departmental meetings, faculty committees, and institutional governance activities.
- Contribute to student admissions, orientation programs, examinations, moderation, and graduation processes.
- Ensure compliance with Clinical Officers Council regulations governing Clinical Medicine education.
- Foster partnerships with healthcare institutions supporting student clinical attachment programs.
- Participate in community health outreach programs organized by the University.
- Promote ethical conduct, professionalism, confidentiality, and patient safety during all academic and clinical activities.
- Maintain continuous professional development through training, workshops, conferences, and professional memberships.
- Support institutional accreditation exercises and academic audits whenever required.
- Contribute to strategic planning initiatives aimed at strengthening teaching, research, and innovation.
- Encourage interdisciplinary collaboration across health sciences programs.
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, respectful, and supportive learning environment for all students.
- Perform additional academic or administrative duties assigned by the Head of Department or University management in support of institutional objectives.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Applicants should possess a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Medicine or an equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline obtained from a recognized and accredited university. Candidates must have a minimum of three years of relevant post
- qualification professional experience and hold a valid practicing license issued by the Clinical Officers Council. Demonstrated potential for university teaching, scholarly research, curriculum development, and academic mentorship will be highly desirable.
- The ideal candidate should possess excellent clinical knowledge, effective classroom management skills, strong presentation abilities, and the capacity to communicate complex healthcare concepts clearly to diverse learners. Applicants should demonstrate analytical thinking, sound decision
- making, excellent interpersonal skills, teamwork, leadership potential, and commitment to academic excellence. Competence in educational technology, research methodology, scientific writing, data interpretation, and publication will be considered an added advantage. Experience supervising students in clinical environments, collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, and participating in curriculum review initiatives will strengthen an application. Membership in relevant professional associations and evidence of continuous professional development will also be advantageous.
