Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic plans that support the School's academic growth, sustainability, and long-term objectives.
- Provide visionary leadership that strengthens teaching excellence, research productivity, innovation, and academic quality.
- Coordinate academic planning to ensure programmes remain competitive, relevant, and aligned with emerging industry demands.
- Oversee effective delivery of teaching, assessment, moderation, examination processes, and academic integrity standards.
- Monitor curriculum implementation to ensure comprehensive course coverage within approved academic calendars.
- Supervise academic staff performance while promoting accountability, professional development, mentorship, and continuous learning.
- Manage student academic progression, retention, completion rates, and overall learning experience.
- Promote a culture of research excellence by encouraging scholarly publications and collaborative research initiatives.
- Lead grant identification, proposal development, and external research funding initiatives.
- Build strategic partnerships with industry, professional organizations, government agencies, and international institutions.
- Expand opportunities for student internships, collaborative projects, and graduate employability programmes.
- Promote internationalisation through global academic partnerships, staff exchanges, student mobility, and collaborative learning opportunities.
- Guide programme development, review, accreditation preparation, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure efficient planning, allocation, utilization, and accountability of financial, human, and physical resources.
- Oversee budgeting processes and monitor effective resource management across School operations.
- Strengthen customer service standards by ensuring timely resolution of student and staff concerns.
- Foster an inclusive academic environment that supports diversity, innovation, collaboration, and professional excellence.
- Monitor attendance, productivity, and performance of academic and administrative staff.
- Support implementation of institutional policies, governance frameworks, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Lead faculty recruitment, induction, succession planning, mentoring, and talent development initiatives.
- Promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and practical business education throughout academic programmes.
- Coordinate departmental activities while encouraging collaboration across teaching, research, and administrative units.
- Represent the School during University committees, academic forums, stakeholder meetings, and external engagements.
- Strengthen alumni engagement initiatives that contribute to networking, mentorship, fundraising, and institutional development.
- Prepare comprehensive operational reports, performance evaluations, strategic progress updates, and institutional recommendations.
- Encourage interdisciplinary collaboration between departments and external research partners.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance institutional rankings, reputation, and academic competitiveness.
- Promote ethical leadership, transparency, accountability, and sound governance practices throughout School operations.
- Identify emerging opportunities that strengthen the School's academic profile and long-term sustainability.
- Perform additional leadership responsibilities assigned by the Deputy Vice Chancellor or other authorized University management.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Applicants should possess a PhD in Business or a closely related discipline from an accredited and recognized university. Candidates should demonstrate substantial academic achievement together with the leadership capability required to manage a dynamic university school. Applicants from academic pathways should possess university teaching or research experience at Lecturer or Research Fellow level, evidence of peer
- reviewed scholarly publications, postgraduate supervision experience, successful participation in research funding initiatives, and active contribution to conferences, seminars, or academic workshops. Demonstrated leadership experience as a Head of Department, Programme Leader, Postgraduate Coordinator, or in another comparable academic management role will be highly advantageous.
- Alternatively, applicants with extensive senior professional leadership experience should possess at least ten years of relevant industry experience, including five years in executive or senior management, together with a demonstrated interest in higher education and institutional development. Candidates must possess exceptional strategic planning, organizational leadership, stakeholder engagement, partnership development, people management, communication, budgeting, decision
- making, negotiation, analytical thinking, policy implementation, performance management, conflict resolution, and change management skills. Membership in a relevant professional body in good standing is essential.
