Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality lectures, tutorials, seminars, demonstrations, and practical learning sessions in Kiswahili Education while maintaining excellent academic standards.
- Prepare comprehensive teaching plans, lesson notes, instructional materials, and learning resources that align with approved university curricula.
- Facilitate engaging learning experiences that promote analytical thinking, creativity, effective communication, and professional competence among students.
- Design, administer, supervise, and evaluate continuous assessments, examinations, assignments, presentations, and practical projects in accordance with university regulations.
- Provide timely, constructive, and objective feedback to students to support continuous academic improvement.
- Guide students through research projects, academic writing, and scholarly activities while encouraging originality and ethical research practices.
- Participate actively in curriculum development, program review, accreditation exercises, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Regularly evaluate course content and recommend enhancements to ensure academic programs remain current and responsive to educational developments.
- Conduct independent and collaborative research that contributes to academic knowledge and institutional research priorities.
- Prepare competitive research grant proposals and pursue funding opportunities that support innovation and scholarly excellence.
- Publish research findings in reputable peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and other recognized academic publications.
- Present research papers during local, regional, and international conferences, seminars, workshops, and professional forums.
- Promote the dissemination of research outputs through academic networks and community engagement initiatives.
- Mentor students by offering academic guidance, career counseling, professional advice, and support for personal development.
- Participate in student supervision for teaching practice, research projects, dissertations, and other academic activities where applicable.
- Foster an inclusive, respectful, and supportive classroom environment that values diversity and equal learning opportunities.
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary teaching initiatives, departmental projects, and institutional development programs.
- Attend departmental meetings, faculty boards, committees, and official university functions as required.
- Contribute to academic planning, policy implementation, strategic initiatives, and institutional quality assurance processes.
- Maintain accurate academic records, student attendance registers, grading documentation, and course reports within required timelines.
- Observe university regulations, ethical standards, and professional codes of conduct in all assigned responsibilities.
- Support outreach programs, educational partnerships, consultancies, and community service activities organized by the University.
- Participate in staff development programs and continuous professional learning to strengthen academic and research capabilities.
- Assist in identifying opportunities for program growth, innovation, and improved student learning outcomes.
- Perform additional academic, administrative, or institutional responsibilities assigned by the Head of Department, Dean, or other authorized University officers in support of departmental and institutional objectives.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Applicants should possess a bachelor's degree in education (Kiswahili) together with a master's degree in education (Kiswahili) obtained from a recognized and accredited university. Candidates must have a minimum of three years of relevant post
- qualification professional experience, preferably within a higher education environment. Demonstrated ability to deliver effective university teaching, undertake scholarly research, and contribute to curriculum development will be highly desirable. - quality teaching materials and conduct fair academic assessments. Strong research capability, academic writing proficiency, grant proposal development skills, and experience presenting scholarly work at professional conferences will be considered an added advantage. The successful candidate should demonstrate integrity, professionalism, sound ethical judgment, adaptability, collaboration, leadership potential, analytical thinking, and effective organizational abilities. Competence in mentoring students, supporting academic success, managing multiple responsibilities, utilizing modern educational technologies, and working effectively within multidisciplinary academic teams is essential.
